The first photos of construction underway on the future USS Montana have been released.

Taken and provided by Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia, the photos cleared for public viewing show sections of PCU (for pre-commissioning unit) MONTANA SSN 794 being put together.

Sections of the Virginia Class submarines are built separately at Newport News and at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Connecticut. Then the sections come together with absolutely precise fit at one of the shipbuilders’ facilities, alternating sub-by-sub.
